The Ripndip name first appeared in skateparks in Ohio, USA. Back in 2006, a group of skaters began writing Ripndip everywhere—on decks, T-shirts, tags and graffiti—and it quickly became a well-known local slogan. Ripndip has always promoted self-confidence and not caring about the system, much like its symbol, the cat: an independent, grumpy and self-sufficient animal. After years of experimenting with names and sketches, Ryan created the legendary cat “Lord Nermal,” which became the symbol and inspiration behind the American brand’s collections. In 2009, Ryan O’Connor officially founded the Ripndip skateboard company and began producing skate decks and clothing.
